Notify external websites

If your website does something when someone gives — unlocking a members' area, updating a registry, syncing another system — it no longer has to guess. Point the CRM at a URL under Settings → Developers and we'll send it a message every time one of your recurring gifts changes.

You pick which notifications you want:

  • Subscription started — a new recurring gift's first payment cleared
  • Subscription renewed — it charged successfully for another period
  • Subscription updated — the amount or status changed, or the donor asked to stop at the end of the period
  • Subscription payment failed — a charge was declined
  • Subscription cancelled — the gift has ended

Each message carries the donor's email, the campaign, the amount, the renewal date, and whatever the donor typed into that campaign's custom fields — so you can match a payment to the exact pet, plot or dedication it was for. Those answers ride along on every message, not just the first, so a renewal months later still tells you what it is for.

Every endpoint gets its own signing secret, so your server can check that a message really came from us. If your site is unreachable we keep retrying for about eight and a half hours before giving up, and an endpoint that stays broken is switched off automatically so it stops piling up.

You can see every message we've sent in the last 30 days under Settings → Developers — what we sent, what your server said back, and how many attempts it took — and replay anything that failed once you've fixed it.
